I Am Pleated Skirt

“The inspiration comes from the daily, physical and psychological relationship I have with some of my garments, considering the pleated skirt as the garment I identify myself with. Inspired by fashion theory and practice, I created a ‘performance of repetition’, proposing 12 pleated skirts and choosing models who are not too tall and who mirror my aspect I extended the concept to the extremes in making tilted aluminum skirts, which are placed far from the body and on a different angle creating a gap between the garment and the person. The pleated skirt has very personal connotations for me, as my mother and grandmother wear it all the time, and the favorite garment that I own is a vintage peach polyester pleated skirt, which I ended up using in the catwalk as one of the looks.”
