Balancing Still Lifes, 2015 Info:  Size is 40x40cm | Silver Gelatin Print/ C-Print (analogue) The Series Balancing Still Lifes are photographs of temporary installations. They are shot on film and then scanned for digital use. The original works are all analogue prints. All the shots are made without tools that help the objects balance. The precision and time needed while making the work to achieve this balance is becoming part of the work itself. Though the works have a calming character they also create a feeling of tension through their fugacious nature. I am interested in the materiality and shape of objects and try to perceive them detached from their given function. They are translated only into color, shape and structure no matter if they are big, old, new, natural or artificial. With this process I hope to find a new connection to those objects which gives me the opportunity of working with the objects like I would when building a collage.
