“A white van was approaching to the bus stop in a small Tibetan town in North India, where I was struggling to feel confident about hitchhiking alone at 5am. The van stopped, I asked their route, and got in. That morning in that van, I saw snow in my life for the first time; the beautiful Himalayas dressed with snow were shining with the sun rising behind them. Hitchhiking from Kaza Valley to Everest in Nepal, then to Jordan, and to Turkey, revealed the beauty of humanity to my soul. I was fascinated by the diversity of the ways people live, and photographed my journey all the way. My camera seeks for the beauty of working class people’s daily routines, like selling spice in a Jordanian desert, extracting food from a tree in Mentawai, washing dishes in an Tibetan village.”
