WSU By ASWA

ASWA (Architectural Studio of Work – Aholic) designed the solid concrete box situated in Bangkok, Thailand. The private studio and gallery of the Thai artist who preferred to protect his daily life from the outside world has only one opening from the street to communicate with its surrounding. For the first glance when opening the door, the four meter height ceiling space allowed the natural light come through the skylight to shine the sculptural staircase over there. Stand in the center of the light court to look above to see the wall of the light shaft that displayed itself as a living artwork due to the changing of daylight. On the second floor, the same light shaft wall has window frames to present as the artwork by displaying the daily light and shadow. Obviously, the imperfect concrete form-tile which created the unique characteristic of this private gallery along with the steel, wood and glass – the purity of material tend to remind people of craft-work.
